During National Library Week, the Ballenger Teachers Center installed a new display of books purchased with generous donations of Dr. Annette Christy.
Dr. Christy graduated from EIU in 1964 with majors in Latin and Spanish. In addition to her bachelor’s, she earned a Master’s in Library Science from Chicago State University and a Doctorate in Educational Technology from Nova Southeastern University. She enjoyed a forty-three year career, teaching at the secondary level.
While remaining a middle school media specialist in upstate South Carolina, Dr. Christy has served as a mentor for groups of on-site and online doctoral students at NSU.
Dr. Christy’s fond memories of Booth Library inspired her to make contributions to the Ballenger Teachers Center, identifying materials for the collection in consultation with librarians. It is her hope that these special materials will be used to promote a joy of learning and enrichment.
Through a decade of generosity, more than 300 books and learning resources have been made available to EIU and the local community.
